So while it seems explosive laser rifles are unobtainable normally, we have wounding to make up for it in a way. The only real downside of Wounding is it isn't nearly as cool as Explosive. Explosive is better at hitting multuple targets because of it's AoE nature, but that can be seen as a negative in CQC situations and when friendlies are close to the target. There are rumors that Explosive can hit multuple hitboxes on the same target, but I've found no evidence of such when using my own explosive combat shotty (named it Boomstick). Thus Wounding may kill things slower as it deals damage over a duration of time, but it will usually win out in single-target damage, as resistances as low as 30 Energy resistance can cut the Demolitions-buffed 30 Explosive damage back down to 15 damage. Both apply their damage on every projectile/beam fired. Wounding damage is never resisted, while Explosive damage is resisted by Physical Damage Reduction on projectile weaponry or Energy Damage Reduction on laser weaponry. Wounding is on-hit while Explosive is AoE. Wounding lags behind Explosive by 5 Dam only after heavy investment in the explosive perk, and beats Explosive by 10 if no ranks of Demolitions are taken. Comparing both: Wounding is DoT while Explosive is instant.
